Remmicom has specialized in developing efficient and user-friendly ICT solutions for local authorities in Flanders since 1988. With a customer base of more than 200 municipalities, Remmicom offers software solutions for various areas such as civil affairs, territory, secretariat, infrastructure,... Remmicom wanted to optimize current developments (consistency of interface components leading to accelerated development times and less maintenance) and further focus on improved usability. To address these challenges, together with Remmicom, we focused on a scalable Atomic Design system, improved user experience and more efficient cooperation between the various stakeholders.

Our team has supported the digital transformation of Remmicom's software platforms by implementing an efficient Atomic Design System and by improving the user-friendliness of the software solutions that Remmicom offers to local authorities. For example, we conducted user research to optimize workflows and improve accessibility. Together with Remmicom, we developed the functional analyses, made sure that the various stakeholders were interviewed from the start and that the expected functionalities tailored to the needs of the local authorities were included in the various modules.
The cooperation within the multidisciplinary teams was also further improved so that functional analysts, developers and end users can switch faster and more efficiently when implementing new features. Finally, the Atomic Design System provides a flexible and consistent user interface that makes components reusable and significantly reduces development time.
The improved usability and accessibility ensure that municipal employees receive an intuitive experience. A first concrete success was the launch of the renewed Civil Affairs application, which received very positive feedback. Thanks to the implementation of the Atomic Design System, the optimized functional analyses and the continuous cooperation with the various stakeholders, Remmicom can respond more quickly and innovatively to the needs of local authorities. In addition, the internal team can now draw up flows and designs independently and efficiently, which significantly reduces the lead time of new developments and increases autonomy within the organization.
