introduction

The 2024 Saudi Arabia Grand Prix in Jeddah was a spectacular event where technology and sport came together to offer fans an unforgettable experience. In collaboration with Culture Kids, Lemon contributed to this event by developing various web screens. These were displayed on the LED screens next to the stands during the race days and integrated into the official F1 SAGP mobile app. This took the experience for visitors to a higher level, both on location and digitally.

Challenge
Approach

Due to a tight deadline of just over a month, strict planning and efficient collaboration were crucial. For front-end development, Next.js was chosen, a powerful React framework that makes fast and scalable web applications possible. The back-end was realized with Booster, which ensured efficient development and implementation of the required functionalities within the specified timeframe and in accordance with Formula 1's strict branding guidelines. In addition, Lemon provided on-site support from one week before the event to ensure a smooth launch.

Social Media Wall

This interactive wall automatically collected and displayed the most important social media posts about the race, including tweets and Instagram photos. The most relevant and popular messages were displayed on both the LED screens next to the stands and in the F1 SAGP app. This strengthened the sense of community and kept fans up to date with everything that happened around the race in real time.

Poll screen integration

An interactive polling screen was developed and fully integrated into the F1 SAGP app. Using Retool, organizers were able to easily ask questions that automatically appeared in the app. Users were able to vote, after which the results were displayed live on the LED screens next to the stands. These polls added an extra interactive dimension, allowing fans to share their views and see their impact immediately.

Encouraging fans to share their experiences increased online presence and reached a wider audience. In total, around 900 contributions were made to the Social Media Wall.

The live polls gave attendees the opportunity to share their views, making them active participants instead of passive spectators. In addition, the polls provided valuable insights into the demographics and opinions of attendees, which can improve future event strategies. More than 3,000 votes were cast during the polls.
