Since 1988, Remmicom has specialized in developing efficient and user-friendly ICT solutions for local authorities across Flanders. Serving over 200 municipalities, they offer software solutions for various domains including civil affairs, spacial planning, secretariat, and infrastructure.
Remmicom wanted to optimize current developments (consistency of interface components leading to accelerated development times and less maintenance) and further focus on improved usability. Together, we addressed these challenges by implementing a scalable Atomic Design system, enhancing the overall user experience, and fostering more efficient collaboration between all stakeholders.

Our team accelerated the digital transformation of Remmicom's software platforms by implementing a high-efficiency Atomic Design System and by improving the user-friendliness of the software solutions that Remmicom offers to local authorities. For example, we conducted a user research to optimize workflows and improve accessibility. Together with Remmicom, we performed the functional analyses, ensured that the various stakeholders were interviewed from the start, and made sure that the expected functionalities tailored to the needs of the local authorities were included in the various modules.
Cooperation within the multidisciplinary teams was also further improved, allowing functional analysts, developers, and end users to collaborate faster and more efficiently when implementing new features. Finally, the Atomic Design System provides a flexible and consistent user interface that makes components reusable and significantly reduces development time.
Enhanced usability and accessibility ensure an intuitive experience for municipal employees. The first major milestone was the launch of the modernized Civil Affairs application, which received overwhelmingly positive feedback. Thanks to the Atomic Design System, optimized functional analyses, and continuous stakeholder collaboration, Remmicom can now respond to the needs of local authorities with greater speed and innovation. Furthermore, the internal team has gained the autonomy to develop user flows and designs independently, significantly reducing lead times for new developments.
